The Battle of Cameron 1863
The Battle of Camarón which occurred over ten hours on 30 April 1863 between the French Foreign Legion and the Mexican army, is regarded as a defining moment in the Foreign Legion’s history.
The Battle of Camarón became synonymous with the bravery and a fight-to-the-death attitude of the French Foreign Legion as they were vastly outnumbered. However, they killed hundreds before succumbing to the Mexicans.
